FPDS
Federal Procurement Data System
Acronyms & AbbreviationsDefinition
FPDS is the federal government's database of all contract award data. It records every federal contract action — who won, how much, under what NAICS code, which agency, and whether it was competitive or sole-source. As of February 2026, FPDS data is now accessed through SAM.gov.
FPDS contains decades of historical contract data, making it invaluable for competitive intelligence. You can research which companies win contracts in your space, what agencies spend on your services, average contract values by NAICS code, and whether incumbents are likely to be recompeted.
The standalone FPDS.gov website was decommissioned on February 24, 2026, and all search functionality was migrated into SAM.gov. The data itself remains comprehensive and freely accessible.
Smart contractors use FPDS data to identify recompete opportunities (contracts expiring soon), research pricing benchmarks, and find teaming partners who have past performance with target agencies.
