SeaPort-NxG
SeaPort Next Generation
Contract TypesDefinition
SeaPort-NxG (Next Generation) is the Navy's primary electronic platform for acquiring support services across 23 functional areas including engineering, financial management, program management, and IT. It is an IDIQ multiple-award contract vehicle that serves as the mandatory source for a wide range of Navy and Marine Corps service requirements.
SeaPort-NxG replaced the earlier SeaPort-e program and is managed by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). It uses a rolling admissions model — unlike most IDIQ vehicles, SeaPort-NxG accepts new contractor applications on a continuous basis, making it one of the most accessible large contract vehicles in the federal market.
SeaPort-NxG functional areas include:
- Engineering, system engineering, and process engineering
- Research and development support
- Modeling, simulation, stimulation, and analysis
- Prototyping, pre-production, and model-making
- System design documentation and technical data
- Software engineering and development
- Reliability, maintainability, and availability
- Human factors engineering
- Configuration management
- Quality assurance
- Program management support
- Acquisition and life cycle logistics support
- Financial management
- Information technology
How SeaPort-NxG works:
- Zone assignments — The U.S. is divided into geographic zones. Contract holders are assigned to zones where they can perform work. You can apply for additional zones after award.
- Task order competition — Navy activities post RFPs to SeaPort-NxG contract holders in the relevant zone. Proposals are evaluated and awards are made at the task order level.
- Rolling admissions — New offerors can apply at any time. GSA evaluates proposals on a rolling basis and awards new contracts periodically.
Getting on SeaPort-NxG:
- Submit a proposal through the SeaPort-NxG portal (seaport.navy.mil)
- Demonstrate relevant past performance in your selected functional areas
- Small businesses receive favorable consideration — the Navy has aggressive small business goals on SeaPort
SeaPort-NxG is particularly valuable for engineering and technical services firms. Once on the vehicle, actively monitor the SeaPort portal for task order opportunities — the Navy posts hundreds of new requirements annually.
